.Bernadette Willemin, the Director General of Destination Marketing for Tourism Seychelles, emphasized the importance of the Spanish market for Seychelles Tourism while speaking to travel media at FITUR 2024 in Madrid. She highlighted that although Spain is a secondary market for Seychelles, it aligns well with the country’s tourism strategy, prioritizing high-yield markets over sheer volume. Willemin mentioned the success of a mega familiarization (FAM) trip organized in December 2023, underscoring the importance of such trips for travel professionals to experience Seychelles firsthand and effectively promote it to potential travelers.
Willemin proudly noted that Seychelles achieved its goal of a 5% increase in tourism last year (2023), a milestone reached through collaborative efforts between the Tourism Seychelles department and various local and international partners. Seychelles aims to continue this upward trend, targeting a further 5% increase in visitors, from 250,000 last year to 268,000 this year (2024).
At FITUR 2024 she also emphasized the diverse range of accommodations available in Seychelles, catering to various preferences and budgets. From luxurious five-star properties and remote island retreats to locally-owned hotels, guest houses, holiday apartments, and boutique hotels, Seychelles offers an authentic experience for those interested in exploring the Creole culture. This variety ensures that every visitor, whether they are couples, adventurers, or families, can find their ideal Seychelles experience.
