Singapore EXPO Showcases Innovation, Sustainability, and Connectivity at ITCMA 2025

Presentation by Eileen Quek, Assistant Director, Sales International, Singapore EXPO

Bangkok, Thailand – ITCMA & CTW Asia-Pacific 2025

At ITCMA 2025, Eileen Quek, Assistant Director of Sales (International) at Singapore EXPO, presented an overview of Singapore’s flagship convention and exhibition complex aims to attract Asia’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) events. Her presentation highlighted how Singapore EXPO is redefining what a modern event venue can achieve — balancing infrastructure excellence with innovation, sustainability, and human connection.

A Global Gateway for Events That Matter

Eileen began by reinforcing Singapore EXPO’s role as Asia’s most accessible and connected events destination. Strategically located just five minutes from Changi Airport, the venue gives international delegates unrivalled convenience upon arrival. With direct links to the EXPO MRT interchange, major expressways, and more than six nearby hotels (including Capri by Fraser and Park Avenue Changi), the venue seamlessly integrates business with leisure, a hallmark of Singapore’s MICE offering.

“Singapore EXPO stands at the crossroads of innovation and accessibility,” Eileen said. “We make it easy for organisers to bring the world together in one place.”

The venue spans 123,000 square metres of flexible space, comprising 10 multipurpose halls, conference suites, outdoor event zones, and the MAX Atria convention wing — a Green Mark Platinum-certified facility that combines contemporary architecture with sustainable design.

Designed for Flexibility and Immersive Experiences

Eileen detailed how Singapore EXPO has evolved into a modular, multi-experience venue, capable of hosting events of any scale and format. Recent examples include:

  • The Singapore FinTech Festival, which drew over 60,000 participants with simultaneous in-person and virtual sessions.
  • The Industrial Transformation Asia-Pacific (ITAP) expo, where Singapore EXPO’s large-scale hall configurations accommodated live robotics showcases and AI technology demonstrations.
  • The Asian Downstream Summit and Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit, which utilised hybrid studios for live-streamed panels and international collaboration.

“Our spaces adapt to your vision,” Eileen explained. “Whether it’s a 30,000-delegate exhibition, a 500-person leadership retreat, or a creative product launch, we can shape the venue to fit your story.”

The MAX Atria provides over 8,000 square metres of meeting and breakout areas, infused with natural daylight and vertical gardens, while the Hub & Spoke Café and Timbre+ Eastside food park add relaxed networking environments that encourage connection beyond the conference floor.

Technology and Innovation at the Core

Highlighting Singapore EXPO’s forward-looking approach, Eileen introduced its Smart Venue Ecosystem, which integrates IoT sensors, AI-driven analytics, and 5G connectivity to improve energy efficiency and event operations.

The venue also features purpose-built broadcast studios for hybrid events, contactless check-in systems, and digital wayfinding tools via its official app — allowing delegates to navigate, network, and engage in real time.

A recent innovation is the EXPO Connect Hub, an integrated command centre supporting live event analytics, digital signage control, and hybrid production management — developed in collaboration with Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative.

“Technology isn’t just a support tool — it’s part of the experience,” Eileen emphasised. “Our goal is to create seamless, data-driven events that feel both efficient and human.”

Sustainability as a Business Imperative

Eileen dedicated a significant portion of her talk to Singapore EXPO’s sustainability leadership, reflecting Singapore’s national goal to achieve net zero by 2050 and the Singapore MICE Sustainability Roadmap.

The venue’s initiatives include:

  • Rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling systems that reduce water consumption by 30%.
  • Solar panels installed on roof sections, supplying renewable energy for hall operations.
  • Food waste conversion partnerships with local farms through its “From Table to Earth” initiative.
  • Plastic reduction policies, using biodegradable materials for catering and eliminating single-use plastics at events.
  • Energy-efficient HVAC systems and LED retrofitting throughout the complex.

These programmes earned Singapore EXPO BCA Green Mark Platinum certification, making it one of the most environmentally advanced event venues in Asia.

“Sustainability is not an afterthought; it’s embedded in every part of our operations — from energy to F&B,” she said. “We aim to host events that leave a lasting impact, not a footprint.”

Beyond Meetings: Culture, Food, and Community

Eileen underscored how Singapore EXPO has transformed into a vibrant community precinct, blending business, creativity, and lifestyle. Delegates can dine at Timbre+ Eastside, an urban food park featuring live music and over 35 local vendors, or experience Hub & Spoke Café, a garden-inspired venue connecting business visitors to Singapore’s cycling trails and Changi precinct.

The venue regularly hosts community events and cultural festivals, reinforcing its role as a space for both professional gatherings and local engagement. This mix of work, culture, and recreation reflects Singapore’s broader approach to human-centred event design.

Partnership and Global Reach

Singapore EXPO continues to work closely with Singapore Tourism Board (STB), Enterprise Singapore, and international organisers to attract high-profile conventions and exhibitions. Its partnerships with global brands like Informa Markets, Clarion Events, and Reed Exhibitions have positioned it as a regional powerhouse for major trade shows and association conferences.

Eileen noted that the venue’s strategic location and governmental support make Singapore a neutral, trusted host nation for business events across industries — from healthcare and finance to technology and sustainability.

“Every event here connects industries and ideas that move the world forward,” she concluded. “At Singapore EXPO, we’re not just hosting events — we’re shaping the future of collaboration.”

A Destination for the Future of MICE

Eileen Quek’s presentation at IT&CMA 2025 captured the spirit of Singapore’s MICE evolution — smart, sustainable, and people-focused. By fusing world-class infrastructure with innovation and community, Singapore EXPO aims to host events that inspire, engage, and endure.
