Thailand’s Vision for Global MICE Leadership
Presentation by Kraiwit Chumsen, Thailand Convention & Visitors Bureau
IT&CMA 2025, Bangkok
In his presentation at IT&CMA 2025, Kraiwit Chumsen from the Thailand Convention & Visitors Bureau (TCVB) outlined the country’s strategic vision and compelling offerings to reinforce Thailand’s leadership in the global MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) space.
Key Highlights & Themes
- Thailand as a Premier MICE Destination
Kraiwit opened by reaffirming Thailand’s strengths — its infrastructure, connectivity, and deep experience in hosting large-scale international events. He positioned Thailand not just as a scenic destination, but as a serious, reliable, world-class MICE hub. - Diverse Venue Ecosystem
He showcased Thailand’s wide array of venue options: from riverside and seaside resorts to urban convention centres, garden venues, and mountain retreats. These location choices allow event planners to tailor experiences to different audiences and themes. - Innovative Experiences Beyond Meetings
Recognising that delegates seek more than formal sessions, Kraiwit emphasized off-site, immersive experiences. He highlighted wellness journeys, cultural engagements, arts and community tie-ins, and sustainable programming as complementary pillars to core business events. - Sustainability and Responsible Tourism
A strong theme in his talk was how Thailand is embedding sustainable practices into its MICE sector. Kraiwit stressed the country’s effort to balance growth in business events with environmental stewardship, community engagement, and cultural preservation. - Strengthening Thailand’s Global Partnerships
He emphasized collaboration with international organisations, event bodies, and regional tourism authorities, aiming to amplify exchanges, enrich cross-border synergies, and enhance Thailand’s reach in markets across Asia-Pacific and beyond. - Thailand Pavilion & Exhibitor Showcase
Kraiwit also introduced the Thailand Pavilion at IT&CMA 2025, where 22 exhibitors from key Thai destinations are presenting their MICE portfolios. Attendees were invited to explore new meeting spaces, pre-/post-tour experiences, and curated packages across Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Khao Lak.
