Thailand to host first-ever Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026

Thailand will host the Grand Final of the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 in Bangkok on 14 November 2026, marking the first time the globally recognised music format is staged in Asia. The announcement, made by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) on 9 April 2026, coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision brand and represents a significant addition to the region’s live entertainment and events calendar.

The decision to stage the event in Bangkok reflects growing international confidence in Thailand’s ability to deliver large-scale global events, supported by established infrastructure, operational capacity, and safety standards. It also aligns with the country’s ongoing strategy to position itself as a leading destination for culture, creative industries, and international tourism.

TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated that hosting Eurovision Song Contest Asia supports Thailand’s “Value over Volume” tourism approach, which prioritises quality visitor experiences and long-term benefits for local communities. The event also complements the broader “Healing is the New Luxury” positioning, which focuses on meaningful travel experiences rooted in culture, creativity, and wellbeing. Thailand’s “Trusted Thailand” initiative continues to underpin these efforts by reinforcing confidence among international organisers and visitors.

The event is being produced by Voxovation in collaboration with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and regional partners, introducing a new Asia-focused edition of one of the world’s most established live music competitions. The Bangkok Grand Final will be co-produced with S2O Productions and broadcast across Asia, as well as through global digital platforms.

Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 will feature participation from broadcasters across the region, including Thailand, South Korea, the Philippines, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, with further participants expected to be confirmed. Each country will select its representative through national selection processes, with all entries competing in a single Grand Final format. Voting will combine audience participation with professional jury input, maintaining the established Eurovision model while adapting it for regional audiences.

A dedicated digital engagement platform, ZOOP, launching alongside the event, will support audience interaction through real-time content, fan participation, and extended digital coverage. This integrated approach is expected to broaden global reach and enhance audience engagement beyond traditional broadcast formats.

With participating markets representing a combined population of more than 600 million people, Eurovision Song Contest Asia 2026 is positioned to become a major regional entertainment platform. For Thailand, the event reinforces its role as a host destination for high-profile international events, supporting both tourism growth and the expansion of the country’s creative economy.

The Bangkok Grand Final on 14 November will serve as a key milestone in the evolution of the Eurovision format, extending its reach into Asia while showcasing the region’s diverse musical talent on a global stage.
